Lesotho Strengthens Health Services with Equipment Donation to Makoanyane Hospital

On November 13, 2025, the Minister of Health, Hon. Selibe Mochoboroane, officially presented new health services equipment to Makoanyane Hospital. The donation aims to enhance the quality of care and improve the performance of health facilities across Lesotho.

Deputy Prime Minister Justice Nthomeng Majara expressed gratitude to the Lesotho military for facilitating the gift. He noted that during a visit to Washington DC, he learned about Project Cure, a volunteer organization that supports countries with medical equipment. Inspired by their work, he requested assistance for Lesotho, highlighting the urgent need for better-equipped health facilities.

Minister Mochoboroane emphasized that the donated equipment will strengthen services at Makoanyane Health Center. The equipment has been delivered to Queen Mamohato Memorial Hospital, Makoanyane Hospital, and Scott Hospital, with plans to distribute similar supplies to other health facilities nationwide. He stressed the importance of building healthcare infrastructure where all citizens, including the elderly, can receive proper treatment.

Speaking on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ramanka Mokaloba thanked the Lesotho Military Hospital for providing the equipment. He underlined that the donation will benefit all citizens, particularly the poor, and will reduce the government’s costs of sending patients abroad for treatment.

Major General Mokaloba also highlighted that the donation will enhance the operational capabilities of the Lesotho military, allowing it to support healthcare initiatives more effectively. The initiative marks a significant step in improving access to healthcare, reducing costs, and ensuring that medical services are available to all segments of the population.
