Global Exhibition at 2025 World Food Forum Highlights Sustainable Agri-Food Innovations

During the 2025 World Food Forum, held from 10 to 13 October, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) hosted the First Global Exhibition: From Seed to Food. The event brought together governments, development partners, private sector actors, and farmers’ organizations to present innovations and best practices across the agri-food value chain. The exhibition demonstrated how sustainable approaches—from seed selection and crop production to processing, marketing, and consumption—can transform global food systems and support efforts to end hunger.
The exhibition emphasized the need for integrated and sustainable food systems to achieve global food security and nutrition targets. It coincided with the fifth edition of the World Food Forum and marked a milestone in the 80th anniversary of FAO’s founding, highlighting decades of progress in agricultural development.
His Majesty King Letsie III, serving as FAO Special Goodwill Ambassador for Nutrition, delivered the keynote address at the official opening. He described the exhibition as a “unique platform for nations to showcase their agricultural heritage, achievements, and aspirations.” His Majesty highlighted Lesotho’s One Country One Priority Product (OCOP) initiative, identifying the potato as a key crop with potential to drive national transformation. He stressed that farmers must have assurance that their produce will reach reliable markets, making agriculture both viable and profitable.
Following the opening, His Majesty and other dignitaries toured the exhibition stands, which showcased the diversity of global agri-food systems. The exhibits highlighted innovative technologies, sustainable practices, and solutions shaping the future of food production, processing, and distribution. The event reinforced the importance of linking production to markets and ensuring that agricultural development benefits farmers, communities, and national economies.
The First Global Exhibition: From Seed to Food underlined the critical role of collaboration among governments, the private sector, and farmers in building resilient, sustainable, and inclusive food systems for the future.
