Lesotho National Revival Torch Presented to Basotho in Botswana

The Lesotho High Commissioner to the Republic of Botswana, His Excellency Mr. Ntsime Jafeta, led a high-level delegation to Tlhareseleele, Botswana, for the official presentation of the National Revival Torch (Lebone la Tsosoloso) to Basotho residing in the country. The ceremony celebrated the ongoing journey of the Torch, which was launched in 2023 to promote His Majesty’s Clarion Call and advance Social Transformation and National Revival.
Tlhareseleele, a historic settlement with a significant Basotho community dating back to the early 1900s, provided a symbolic backdrop for the event. The delegation included key officials such as the Chief Executive Officer of Project Re, Mr. Solly Mofoka, and the Consul-General in Johannesburg, Mrs. Mamolefi Ntaitsane.
The ceremony was attended by representatives from the Government of Botswana and traditional leaders, including Principal Chiefs from various clans. Chief Lebohang Paul Letshikhoane, Chief of the Royal Court in Tlhareseleele, welcomed the delegation and highlighted the enduring cultural and historical connections between Basotho in Lesotho and those living in Botswana.
Since its launch, the National Revival Torch has traveled across Lesotho and beyond, symbolizing unity, national pride, and collective responsibility. In 2024 alone, the Torch visited all ten districts of Lesotho and three major Basotho-populated areas in South Africa: Matatiele, Qwaqwa, and Gauteng.
The Tlhareseleele event reinforced the Torch’s mission to inspire Basotho communities abroad to embrace the national vision for transformation and unity. The presentation emphasized cultural continuity, identity, and the shared responsibility of Basotho citizens to contribute to social and national development.
