Road Fund Lesotho Marks 30th Anniversary with Mobile Court Handover

Road Fund Lesotho celebrated its 30th anniversary on Monday in Maseru, in the presence of Prime Minister Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane, cabinet ministers, stakeholders, and staff. The event coincided with the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Day, observed under the theme, ‘Fund Resilience, Not Disasters’.

The celebration included the handover of a mobile court to the National University of Lesotho (NUL). The mobile court, intended for use by the Faculty of Law, will support moot court programs and outreach activities, enabling students to simulate court proceedings and engage with communities on legal matters. Prime Minister Matekane officially handed over the mobile court to NUL Vice Chancellor Professor Isaac Fajana. In his acceptance remarks, Professor Fajana thanked the government and Road Fund, noting the mobile court will help advance access to justice while taking legal services closer to the people.

In his anniversary address, Prime Minister Matekane described the 30-year milestone as a celebration of progress and perseverance. He highlighted the broader impact of Road Fund’s work, saying good roads connect communities, improve access to hospitals, allow farmers to bring products to market, and ensure students can reach schools without hindrance.

The combined celebration underscored Road Fund Lesotho’s commitment to infrastructure development, social responsibility, and enhancing both education and national resilience.
