Health Minister Selibe Mochoboroane Condemns Poor Service Delivery in Health Facilities

Minister of Health Selibe Mochoboroane has raised alarm over the poor service delivery that some Basotho continue to experience in public health facilities. His remarks come in response to a viral video shared by a young Mosotho, which documented the inadequate treatment he received at a public hospital on Tuesday night.

Speaking to the Agency on Thursday, Mr. Mochoboroane said the video was a clear reflection of deeper, widespread challenges in Lesotho’s health system. He expressed concern that, despite government investments in medical equipment and staffing, the quality of care remains lacking in some areas.

The Minister noted that four health centres have recently been flagged for substandard service. He warned that this situation cannot be allowed to continue and emphasized the urgent need for a new national strategy to improve service delivery across the board.

Mochoboroane also acknowledged that several health centres continue to serve patients well. He commended the professionalism and dedication of health workers who uphold high standards and help ensure that Basotho receive the care they need without unnecessary delays or hardship.

The Ministry of Health is expected to carry out follow-up investigations and propose corrective actions aimed at addressing gaps in patient care. The government remains committed to strengthening public trust in the health system and ensuring that every Mosotho has access to dignified and reliable health services.
