Revenue Services Lesotho Launches Online Refunds Application to Boost Service Delivery

The Commissioner General of Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL), Mrs. Mathabo Mokoko, today launched the Online Refunds Application, a major step aimed at enhancing taxpayer services and advancing digital transformation within the organisation. The new platform is designed to improve operational efficiency and strengthen the administration of tax refunds.

The Online Refunds Application automates the refund process, reducing manual intervention and improving accuracy. It also promises faster turnaround times, allowing taxpayers to receive refunds more quickly and with greater transparency. Mrs. Mokoko highlighted that the initiative reflects RSL’s commitment to responding to taxpayers’ needs while promoting a modern, technology-driven approach to revenue administration.

This launch aligns closely with the RSL Strategic Plan 2023 – 2027, known as “Lesokoana”, which identifies digitalisation as a core strategic pillar. The plan aims to leverage technology to simplify tax compliance, enhance service delivery, and enable data-driven decision-making. By implementing digital solutions such as the Online Refunds Application, RSL seeks to increase efficiency, reduce errors, and build trust with taxpayers.

Mrs. Mokoko emphasized that the digital platform is part of a broader strategy to strengthen organisational capacity and promote transparency across all RSL operations. She encouraged taxpayers to embrace the new system, noting that it would streamline processes, minimise delays, and provide clear communication on the status of refunds.

The launch of the Online Refunds Application marks a significant milestone in Lesotho’s journey toward digital governance. It reinforces RSL’s commitment to operational excellence, improved taxpayer experience, and the adoption of technology to drive sustainable improvements in public service delivery.
