Vodacom Lesotho Foundation Champions Disability Inclusion Through Accessibility Conference

Vodacom Lesotho Foundation, in collaboration with the Lesotho National Federation of Organisations of the Disabled (LNFOD), hosted a landmark Disability Accessibility Conference focused on amplifying the voices of people with disabilities and promoting full inclusion in every sector of society.
Her Majesty Queen ‘Masenate Bereng Seeiso graced the event and underscored the importance of inclusive national development. She called for equal opportunities for all Basotho, particularly those living with disabilities. “We can achieve common goals and bring change from the ground up,” the Queen said, urging corporate partners across Lesotho to unite in building a culture of inclusion.
In her address, Her Majesty encouraged all sectors to “arise the voice of persons with disabilities,” highlighting the need for equal access to education, employment, public services, and justice. She noted that inclusion is not only a human rights issue but also a foundation for sustainable national progress.
The Minister of Gender, Youth and Social Development, Hon. Pitso Lesaoana, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting equality and accessibility. “We are here today to listen to the voices of persons with disabilities and to promote equality and inclusion,” he said. The Minister emphasized that disability inclusion must extend to economic, social, and political participation, calling for continued funding and support for disability-focused programmes.
Vodacom Lesotho CEO Mohale Ralebitso highlighted the company’s commitment to bridging the digital divide through inclusive technology. “This is not just for the capital; we want this to reach every corner of the country,” he said. Ralebitso stressed that disability should not be a barrier to education or opportunity, adding that digital equity is key to ensuring that no one is left behind.
Stakeholders from government, civil society, and the private sector pledged to work together to advance the rights of persons with disabilities. They agreed that addressing disability issues requires sustained collaboration and long-term policy integration.
The conference marked a significant milestone in Lesotho’s journey toward a more inclusive and equitable society. By combining advocacy, technology, and partnership, the initiative aims to close the accessibility gap and empower people with disabilities to participate fully in national development.
