Vodacom Lesotho Foundation Empowers Students Through School Visits and Educational Support

Vodacom Lesotho continues to prioritise education as a cornerstone for national development, with its community outreach department, the Vodacom Lesotho Foundation, actively engaging students across the country. On Friday this week, the Foundation, joined by colleagues from Technology, HR, Marketing and Products and Services, visited several schools to provide both material support and guidance to learners. The schools included Ratjomose Primary School in Maseru, Leribe English Medium School in Leribe, and Maletsemela High School in Liphiring, Mohale’s Hoek. The visits focused on equipping students with essential learning tools and providing career guidance to help them make informed decisions about tertiary education.
During the engagement, the Vodacom Lesotho Foundation distributed notebooks, pens, rubbers, rulers and other essential school supplies, addressing immediate learning needs. Students also received guidance on subject selection in tertiary institutions, particularly in fields related to mathematics, applied science and technology. Vodacom provided free online and applied science tutoring to enhance learning outcomes and encourage academic excellence. Additionally, the Foundation educated students on using M-Pesa to pay for tuition and books, promoting financial literacy and convenience. These initiatives aimed to empower learners with both knowledge and practical tools to succeed academically.
School management expressed gratitude for the timely support, noting that the intervention came at a crucial moment when resources and guidance were most needed. Many students reported feeling relieved and motivated, now with a clearer understanding of the subjects they should focus on for their future studies. The engagement reinforced the importance of planning academic paths early and utilising available support systems to enhance learning outcomes. By offering both material and advisory support, Vodacom Lesotho Foundation strengthened the confidence and preparedness of these learners.
The campaign aligns with Vodacom Lesotho Foundation’s Education pillar, which aims to ensure that no Sotho child is left behind. Through initiatives like this, the Foundation continues to bridge educational gaps, promote STEM education and provide opportunities for students to excel. The outreach demonstrates Vodacom’s commitment to building a skilled, informed and future-ready generation. By combining school visits, resource provision and educational guidance, the Foundation ensures tangible impact in the communities it serves.
Vodacom Lesotho Foundation plans to expand these efforts to more schools across the country, reinforcing its mission to support learners at all levels. The focus on education, digital learning and financial literacy underscores Vodacom’s long-term commitment to empowering youth and strengthening Lesotho’s human capital. Students, educators and communities are benefiting directly from this engagement, creating a foundation for continued academic success and national growth.
