Globe Trotters Hosts Tourism Debrief Strengthening Lesotho Italy Partnership

On Sunday, 18 January 2026, Ms. Michelina Gabrie Sanquest hosted a focused tourism engagement that brought together Lions Club members and tourism operators. She leads The Globe Trotters Tourist Operators. The gathering took place as a follow up to a familiarisation tour in Lesotho held in December 2025. About 90 participants attended. The event aimed to reflect on experiences, build momentum for future travel and deepen cooperation between Lesotho and international partners.

The meeting attracted key stakeholders from the Lions Club and the tourism sector. A notable guest was H.E. Lebeko Sello, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Lesotho to Italy. His presence underscored the diplomatic value of tourism as a tool for cooperation. Discussions focused on lessons drawn from the December 2025 familiarisation tour organised by Globe Trotters in Lesotho.

Participants shared first hand accounts of Lesotho as a tourism destination. They highlighted mountain landscapes, cultural heritage and community based tourism experiences. Several speakers stressed that Lesotho offers strong potential for adventure tourism, heritage travel and responsible tourism. These insights encouraged Lions Club members to begin planning visits to Lesotho in 2026.

Beyond travel promotion, the gathering addressed charity and community development opportunities. Members explored how future visits could support local communities through structured initiatives. The Embassy of Lesotho was requested to assist in identifying suitable projects aligned with local needs. This approach aimed to ensure that tourism activities deliver direct social impact.

The engagement also reinforced the working relationship between Globe Trotters Tourism Company and the Kingdom of Lesotho. Both sides recognised the value of sustained dialogue, coordinated planning and people to people exchanges. The meeting positioned tourism as a platform for development, cultural understanding and long term partnership.

The January 2026 gathering marked an important step in advancing tourism cooperation between Lesotho and international partners. It built on the success of the December 2025 familiarisation tour and set clear intentions for travel and development initiatives in 2026. Through leadership from Ms. Michelina Gabrie Sanquest and support from the Lesotho Embassy, the partnership continues to grow. The focus on tourism, charity and community development signals a practical path toward shared benefits for visitors and host communities alike.
