Prime Minister Sam Matekane Welcomes YouTuber Wodemaya and Tony Megabush to Lesotho

In a moment of cultural pride and digital diplomacy, the Right Honourable Prime Minister Sam Matekane yesterday welcomed internationally renowned YouTuber Kobina Ackon, popularly known as Wodemaya, alongside his travel companion and fellow content creator Tony Majanga, affectionately known as Tony Megabush, during their visit to Lesotho.

The pair, who are celebrated for their vibrant and impactful storytelling across the African continent, were introduced to the Prime Minister by the Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, Hon. Motlatsi Maqelepo, together with senior officials from the Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC). Their presence in the Mountain Kingdom marks an important moment for the country’s growing engagement with digital influencers and global media figures who champion African narratives.

In a warm display of Basotho hospitality, Prime Minister Matekane gifted the creators with culturally branded T-shirts, a symbolic gesture reflecting the nation’s unity, pride, and welcoming spirit. The Prime Minister expressed his deep appreciation for Wodemaya’s mission of “selling Africa to the world” — a phrase often associated with Wodemaya’s widely admired digital content that celebrates African countries, people, and untold stories.

Wodemaya’s visit comes at a time when Lesotho is increasing efforts to promote its tourism potential and cultural heritage to global audiences. His spotlight on the Kingdom is already generating buzz among his millions of followers, many of whom are discovering Lesotho’s breathtaking landscapes and rich traditions for the first time.

The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to encourage both Wodemaya and Tony Megabush to consider investing in Lesotho — not just through finances, but by dedicating their time, energy, and influence. He highlighted the importance of collaboration with local creatives and emphasised that Lesotho’s doors will always be open to them.

With tourism and digital storytelling becoming powerful tools for economic and cultural development, this meeting signals a promising future for partnerships that celebrate African pride and global visibility. Lesotho is proud to have hosted Wodemaya and Tony Megabush and looks forward to seeing the ripple effects of their journey throughout the Kingdom.
