Lesotho’s Deputy Prime Minister Showcases Investment Opportunities at 17th US-Africa Business Summit

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Honourable Justice Nthomeng Majara, proudly represented the country at the 17th US-Africa Business Summit, held from June 22 to 25, 2025, in Luanda, Angola. Invited by the President of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), the Deputy Prime Minister was accompanied by senior government officials, representatives from the Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC), and members of Lesotho’s business community.
Held under the theme “Pathways to Prosperity: A Shared Vision for U.S.-Africa Partnership,” the summit aimed to build on the momentum created by the US-Africa Business Forum (USABF) hosted by U.S. President Joe Biden in Washington, DC, in December 2022. The event served as a vital platform to strengthen trade and investment ties between the United States and African nations.
This year’s summit brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including U.S. and African government officials, private sector leaders, and investors. Discussions focused on creating stronger trade links, enhancing investment flows, and promoting sustainable economic partnerships. Key sectors on the agenda included health, energy and green energy, ICT, agriculture, infrastructure, critical minerals, and beneficiation.
Lesotho actively participated in various segments of the summit, including high-level dialogues, plenary sessions, roundtable discussions, and panel engagements. The country was also given the opportunity to host side-line presentations, where it showcased investment and trade opportunities available within its borders.
Honourable Justice Majara took the stage during the High-Level Dialogue on Financing the Next Phase of Africa’s Health Infrastructure, where she outlined Lesotho’s plans and opportunities in strengthening its health sector. She emphasized the importance of partnerships and financing solutions that align with Africa’s healthcare priorities.
The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), the event’s organizer, is the leading U.S. business association dedicated to fostering commercial relationships between the United States and Africa. Over the past three decades, CCA has convened investors, government officials, entrepreneurs, and financiers from across the globe to discuss policies and opportunities in key economic sectors.
The 2025 summit in Angola marked another significant milestone for Africa-U.S. economic relations. It follows previous successful summits held in Botswana (2023), Morocco (2022), Mozambique (2019), Ethiopia (2016), and South Africa (2007).
Lesotho’s active participation in the summit underscores the country’s commitment to engaging with global partners and attracting investment that will drive economic growth and development for its people.
