Digital Innovators Summit 2025 Kicks Off AI Initiatives in Partnership with LNIG Hollard

On Wednesday, the Digital Innovators Summit (DIS) 2025, in collaboration with LNIG Hollard, hosted a dynamic press conference at the American Corner, officially launching a series of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-focused initiatives set to unfold throughout the year. This event follows the success of the high-level DIS summit held on June 5, which brought together leading experts in technology, education, policy, and innovation.

The June summit concentrated on harnessing the transformative potential of AI in Lesotho, with a strong emphasis on ethics, inclusivity, and long-term socioeconomic benefits. It laid the groundwork for DIS 2025’s ambitious programs designed to increase AI awareness, develop digital skills, and nurture a forward-thinking digital culture nationwide.

This year’s theme, “Empowering Truth in the Age of AI,” highlights the critical need for responsible innovation amid the fast-paced evolution of technology. At the press conference, DIS founder Tello Leballo emphasized the importance of equipping younger generations with the knowledge and tools to collaborate with emerging technologies.

“It’s crucial that the next generation understands what AI is, how it works, and how to use it to improve lives,” Leballo stated. “When AI is developed and applied with ethics at the core, it holds the power to drive significant economic growth and revolutionize entire industries.”

Supporting this vision, LNIG Hollard’s Head of Brand and Marketing, Liepollo Tsekoa, stressed the importance of digital readiness. “We must not fear AI, we must master it. It is reshaping how we work, live, and connect. Every sector is being impacted, so we need to ensure that no one is left behind,” Tsekoa remarked.

The press conference marked the official launch of the DIS 2025 calendar of activities. These include AI workshops, outreach programs targeting schools and universities, digital storytelling projects, and innovation challenges. The initiatives are designed to make AI and digital technology accessible and relevant to youth, entrepreneurs, and communities across Lesotho.

Through these efforts, DIS 2025 and LNIG Hollard aim to empower Lesotho’s citizens to harness the benefits of AI, positioning the country as a regional leader in digital innovation and inclusive technology development.
