This year’s conference highlights the rising global demand for copper, lead, nickel, and cobalt, minerals essential for batteries and electric vehicles. These technologies are critical to the fight against climate change, positioning resource-rich nations like Lesotho as strategic partners for international investors.

Lesotho is among 14 African nations participating, aiming to attract investment and create sustainable growth opportunities. The delegation seeks to strengthen partnerships that will drive development in mining, natural resources, and related sectors.

Right Honourable Prime Minister Ntsokoane Matekane leads the high-level team. The delegation includes Minister of Foreign Affairs Lejone Mpotjoane, Minister of Natural Resources Mohlomi Moleko, LNDC Acting CEO Molise Ramaili, DPS Foreign Affairs Limpho Masilo-Motsamai, DPS Mining Seboka Thamae, LNDC PR Manager Moremoholo Tiisetso, Chief of Protocol Col. (Rtd) Tanki Mothae, and other experts in mining and natural resource management.

The team’s presence underlines Lesotho’s commitment to positioning itself as a reliable supplier of strategic minerals while attracting foreign investment. By engaging directly with global industry leaders, the Mountain Kingdom aims to secure partnerships that translate into economic growth and job creation at home.

ADU 2025 offers Lesotho a platform to showcase its mineral potential, promote its regulatory framework, and demonstrate its readiness to support sustainable mining practices. Day one set the tone for active participation, with the delegation emphasizing collaboration, investment readiness, and long-term growth strategies for the nation.
