Lesotho Football Association Strengthens Likuena Coaching Team Ahead of 2026 World Cup Qualifiers

The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) has reinforced the Likuena technical team with the appointment of Abram Mongoya as assistant coach. Mongoya, former head coach of Bantu and current coach of Upington City, will join assistant coach Bafokeng Mohapi and goalkeeper coach Sam Ketsekile.
LeFA Media and Communications Manager Mr. Mikia Kalati confirmed the changes follow the departure of former assistant coach Bob Mafoso, who has moved to Namibia to coach African Stars. African Stars are the reigning league champions and will compete in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League this September.
Kalati added that the Likuena squad will resume training next week with a provisional group of locally based players. The team will begin preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Lesotho’s first qualifier match is scheduled against South Africa on 5 September at Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein. The team will then travel to Benin for the away fixture four days later.
The coaching additions aim to strengthen Likuena’s chances in these crucial matches as the nation pursues World Cup qualification.
