Thaba Tseka Set to Shine Bright as Street Light Installation Nears Completion

Thaba Tseka is preparing to embrace a brighter future as the long-awaited street lighting project nears completion. The Ministry of Public Works and Transport confirmed that while the lights were initially scheduled to be operational by the end of June, progress had been delayed by unforeseen challenges.

Despite the setbacks, the project is now moving forward. Soon, Thaba Tseka’s streets will be lit by poles painted in the colors of the Lesotho flag, offering both function and national pride. The initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to improve infrastructure and public safety in rural and urban areas alike.

Residents have welcomed the development. Mr. Tankiso Letuka, a local business owner, expressed his appreciation in an interview. “This has been long overdue,” he said. “We hope this will not only improve security around our businesses but also enhance the look of our town at night.”

He added that lighting the streets could help reduce road accidents, which are often caused by poor visibility in the dark.

The Ministry says the street lights are expected to be fully operational in the coming weeks. The project signals a shift toward safer, better-equipped towns across Lesotho and offers new hope for improved quality of life in Thaba Tseka.
