Mafeteng Tops LGCSE 2024 Results with Impressive Performance
The Mafeteng district has emerged as the top-performing district in the 2024 Lesotho General Certificate in Secondary Education (LGCSE) results, achieving an impressive pass rate of 64.78%. This marks a significant 7.18% improvement from its 2023 performance of 57.6%, maintaining its first-place ranking from last year.
The announcement was made during a press briefing held in Maseru on Thursday by the Minister of Education and Training, Professor Ntoi Rapapa.
Top-Performing Districts
Following Mafeteng, Mohale’s Hoek secured second place with a pass rate of 64.6%, narrowly surpassing Leribe in third place at 64.49%. Thaba-Tseka ranked fourth with 64.48%, while Botha-Bothe claimed fifth place.
The rest of the districts ranked as follows:
- Qacha’s Nek
- Maseru
- Berea
- Mokhotlong
- Quthing – Although Quthing remains in last place, it showed significant progress with a pass rate of 44.9%, up from 38.1% in 2023.
National Performance
Professor Rapapa noted an overall national pass rate of 61%, reflecting an 8% increase compared to 53% in 2023. This improvement underscores the efforts made by students, teachers, and the Ministry of Education to enhance academic outcomes.
Minister’s Remarks
Prof. Rapapa commended all stakeholders for their contributions to the improved results and emphasized the importance of continued investment in education. “The progress we see today is a testament to our collective dedication to quality education,” he said.
The Minister also encouraged districts to learn from Mafeteng’s success and adopt strategies that could further improve educational outcomes across the country.
