Since the start of the festive season, Kome Caves have been bustling with activity. According to Mr. Kome, the site has recorded 20 to 25 visitors daily, comprising both local and international tourists. This steady flow of tourists underscores the growing appeal of Kome Caves as a cultural and historical attraction.

A Unique Cultural Destination

The Kome Caves, known for their rich history and unique architecture, are a national treasure in Lesotho. Built into sandstone rock formations, these caves have served as homes for generations and are a testament to the ingenuity of the Basotho people. Visitors are drawn to the caves not only for their historical significance but also for the serene and picturesque environment that surrounds them.

Boost to Local Tourism

The anticipated surge in tourist numbers is expected to boost local tourism and benefit nearby communities. Mr. Kome emphasized that KTDG is committed to ensuring visitors have a memorable experience while also promoting sustainable tourism practices.

“With this influx, we are focused on maintaining the integrity of the caves and providing excellent service to all our guests. The holidays are an important time for tourism, and we want to make sure our visitors leave with great memories,” Mr. Kome added.

To accommodate the growing number of tourists, KTDG has implemented measures to enhance visitor experience. These include guided tours, improved amenities, and cultural showcases that highlight the heritage of the Basotho people.
