The Roads Directorate has initiated the registration of unskilled labourers for routine road maintenance activities along the vital route from Bolahla to Qacha’s Nek. This important process began today at the Pheellong Primary School soccer field in Ha Mpiti and is set to run for three days, concluding on Thursday at Ha Malefane, where laborers will also be engaged for work from Qhoali to Ha Mosi.

During the registration event, Mr. Tumisang Mokhubu, the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of the Qacha’s Nek Roads Directorate, shared key plans for the upcoming maintenance work. He announced that the primary focus will be on maintaining the tar road, particularly targeting pothole repairs, which are critical for ensuring the safety and functionality of the region’s transportation infrastructure. The recruited labourers will be engaged in this essential work for a duration of three months.

Mr. Mokhubu emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that maintaining the roads not only enhances travel safety but also supports local economic activities by improving access for residents and businesses. He encouraged community members to participate in the registration process, highlighting that this is an opportunity for local unskilled labourers to contribute to the betterment of their roads while also earning a livelihood.

The registration event reflects the Directorate’s commitment to improving road conditions and fostering community involvement in public works. By recruiting local labourers, the initiative aims to empower the community, providing jobs while addressing pressing infrastructure needs.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to register and participate in the maintenance efforts. With the registration process being conducted over just three days, local communities are urged to act quickly to secure their roles in this important road maintenance initiative.
