Tributes Pour in for Mr. Motjoka Ramonono, Beloved Actor and Former Minister Counsellor
The family of Mr. Motjoka Ramonono, affectionately known as ‘Kau-La-Poho,’ has confirmed his passing. Mrs. Thobekile Ramonono, the wife of the deceased, shared that he died at Queen “Mamohato Memorial Hospital on Saturday after a short illness.
Mr. Ramonono had a distinguished career in public service, having served as a Minister Counsellor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before retiring. He was also a Deputy Head of the Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) Secretariat for the Lesotho Chapter, where he contributed significantly to governance and development initiatives in the country.
In addition to his government service, Ramonono was a talented actor, recognized for his work in theatre, radio drama, and film. One of his most notable achievements was his role in the local film ‘Kau-La-Poho,’ which not only showcased his acting skills but also became the source of his affectionate nickname. His contributions to the arts enriched the cultural landscape of Lesotho, and he is remembered for his passion and dedication to storytelling.
Ramonono held a Bachelor of Law degree from the National University of Lesotho (NUL), which underscored his commitment to education and his understanding of legal matters. His diverse talents and unwavering dedication to both his professional and artistic endeavors made a lasting impact on many.
