Meet Mathobatsi Sekoere: Mandela Washington Fellow and Advocate for Human Rights and Entrepreneurship
Mathobatsi Sekoere, a dynamic entrepreneur and media personality from Maseru, is set to embark on an exciting journey as a member of the 2024 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders cohort. This prestigious fellowship will see Mathobatsi heading to the United States, where she will be hosted by The University of Texas at Austin under the Leadership in Business track.
Mathobatsi’s professional background is as impressive as it is diverse. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems and works with the Ministry of Gender, Youth, and Social Development. Additionally, she serves on the Trafficking in Persons multi-sectoral committee, demonstrating her commitment to human rights and social justice.
In her role as an entrepreneur, Mathobatsi founded A Toby Event, a company that leverages entrepreneurship to combat human trafficking. Through her company, she provides experiential learning opportunities for students, brand activation services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs), and promotional platforms for artists and creatives. Her innovative approach helps raise awareness about human trafficking while empowering various community members through practical and creative engagements.
