NUL Hosts 2019 BOLESWA Intervasity Games

The National University of Lesotho will host the 2019 BOLESWA Intervarsity Games from 11th to 15th March 2019. The games will be officially opened by the Minister of Education and Training and also graced by the Minister of Gender, Youth, Sports and Recreation on the 11th March, 2019 at Setsoto Stadium.
The games will involve more than 1500 participants from the three universities of Botswana, Lesotho and eSwatini.
In all, there will be twenty-nine (29) sporting codes. NUL is prepared to participate in all the sporting codes and promises to put up the best display of sportsmanship. Two of these codes will be demo-sports by Lesotho since Botswana and eSwatini will not compete in them.
Students will be competing in the sporting codes including Soccer (ladies and gents), Netball, Volleyball, Basketball, Athletics, Swimming, Badminton, Chess, Cricket, Dance sport, Darts, Karate, Moot Court, Pool, Rugby, Squash, Table Tennis, Tennis, Taekwondo, Weightlifting, Mr. and Miss Intervarsity pageants, Aerobics, and Choral Music.
The competitions will kick start with Choral Music and Mr. and Miss Intervarsity pageants while a Cultural Day, marked by food tasting, will take place on the last day of the competitions.
Lesotho usually scoops the most gold medals becoming the overall winner. A recent achievement was in 2016 when Lesotho came in the first position after winning 16 gold overall trophies in the Games which ended in a draw with the University of Botswana.
The BOLESWA Intervarsity Games have a long history extending back to the times when NUL used to be the University of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland (UBLS). It is characterized by student competitions in sporting activities
