Lesotho Ministry of Education Launches Weeklong Digitization Workshop for Numeracy Content

The Ministry of Education and Training, through its key departments including the National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC), the Lesotho Distance Teaching Centre (LDTC), and the Information Technology (IT) Department, has launched a weeklong workshop focused on digitizing educational content. The workshop, which started today in Mohale’s Hoek District, will run until Friday.
The primary objective of the workshop is to digitize numeracy content in line with the Learning Passports guidelines. This initiative is part of the ministry’s broader effort to integrate digital tools into the education system and enhance access to quality learning materials for students across Lesotho.
During the workshop, participants will work on converting traditional numeracy curriculum content into digital formats. This includes creating interactive lessons, multimedia resources, and other digital learning tools that align with modern teaching standards. The initiative also emphasizes ensuring content is accessible, user-friendly, and adaptable for distance learning programs.
The weeklong workshop brings together educators, curriculum developers, and IT specialists to collaborate on the development of digital learning resources. By combining expertise from curriculum development, distance teaching, and information technology, the ministry aims to strengthen the digital capacity of Lesotho’s education system and prepare students for a technology-driven learning environment.
The digitization project represents a strategic step toward modernizing Lesotho’s educational framework and improving learning outcomes by providing students and teachers with innovative tools to support numeracy skills development.
