His Excellency Mr. Mansour Shakib Mehr Presents Credentials to King Letsie III, Reinforcing Lesotho–Iran Relations

On 4th December 2025, His Excellency Mr. Mansour Shakib Mehr, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Kingdom of Lesotho, officially presented his Letters of Credence to His Majesty King Letsie III at the Royal Palace. This formal ceremony marks the start of his diplomatic mission in Lesotho, succeeding H.E. Mr. Mehdi Agha Jafari, whose tenure concluded in 2024. The presentation is a key step in reaffirming diplomatic engagement and collaboration between the two nations.
Diplomatic relations between Lesotho and Iran were established in 1971, built on mutual respect and principles of non-interference. Over the years, both countries have maintained constructive dialogue and cooperation across multiple sectors. Iran has played a supportive role in Lesotho’s Public Servants Housing Scheme, demonstrating tangible commitment to local development initiatives. Beyond bilateral engagements, Lesotho and Iran collaborate in international platforms such as the United Nations and the Non-Aligned Movement, promoting principles of self-determination and independence for nations worldwide.
The arrival of Ambassador Shakib Mehr underscores a continued focus on strengthening bilateral ties. The presentation of credentials reaffirms the commitment of both governments to deepening cooperation in areas of development, diplomacy, and international advocacy. This step is expected to pave the way for expanded initiatives and closer collaboration between Lesotho and Iran in the coming years.
