Nedbank Lesotho Invests M1 Million in Nedbank Maseru City Run

Nedbank Lesotho will invest M1 million in the Nedbank Maseru City Run over the next three years. The event was previously known as the Maseru City Run and remains one of the country’s most popular annual road races. The bank will contribute M300 000 in the first year, M325 000 in the second year and M375 000 in the final year. The investment aims to strengthen the event and increase its impact on sports and community development.

Head of Marketing and Communications Sekonyela Maramane confirmed that the bank is partnering with Eventful Moments to manage the race. He stated that the bank sees the partnership as part of its responsibility to give back to the community. He noted that the wellness of people remains a priority for the institution. He added that the race aligns with the bank’s efforts to promote health and social wellbeing.

Maramane said the Nedbank Maseru City Run is expected to support the tourism sector. He explained that participants travel to Maseru for the race and spend money on accommodation, food and local services. He added that the event creates direct and indirect benefits for the city. He noted that stronger event attendance will help businesses gain more visibility and income.

So far, 1152 people have registered to participate in the race. The number reflects growing interest in running and community events in Lesotho. Organisers expect more registrations as the race draws closer. They plan to enhance the experience for runners through improved logistics and safety management.

The investment marks a significant step in promoting sports and community engagement in Maseru. The partnership between Nedbank Lesotho and Eventful Moments aims to elevate the race and expand its reach. The growing number of participants shows strong public support for the event. The Nedbank Maseru City Run is positioned to become a major highlight on the national sporting calendar.
