Vodacom and Vodafone Egypt Explore Digital Partnership with Lesotho Government

Vodafone Egypt CEO Mohamed Abdullah and Vodacom International Markets, alongside Vodacom Lesotho executives, paid a courtesy call to the Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation, Hon. Nthati Moorosi, on 16 February 2026. The meeting highlighted the growing interest in digital partnerships to accelerate government digitization across Lesotho. The discussion focused on how Vodacom can support the government’s digital transformation initiatives, drawing on successful projects implemented in Kenya and Egypt. This collaboration aims to improve public service delivery, enhance efficiency in government operations, and strengthen digital infrastructure nationwide. The Vodacom group delegation included Mr. Ayman Essam, Chief Officer Regulatory and External Affairs for Vodacom Group, Mr. Mohale Ralebitso, Chief Executive Officer of Vodacom Lesotho, and Mr. Tšepo Ntaopane, Head of Regulatory and External Affairs for Vodacom Lesotho. They engaged with Minister Moorosi and her team to identify priority areas for digital collaboration. The government delegation included Principal Secretary Mr. Kanono Ramashamole, Director ICT Mr. Thapeli Tjabane, and Chief Legal Advisor ‘Makamohelo Mofilikoane. The meeting provided a platform for both parties to exchange insights on regulatory frameworks, digital infrastructure requirements, and strategies to foster public-private partnerships in technology.

The discussions emphasized the potential for Vodacom’s expertise to enhance Lesotho’s digital transformation agenda.
