Labour Minister Encourages Graduates to Embrace Creativity and Innovation

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Ts’eliso Mokhosi, has called on 74 graduates from Ntlafatso Skills Training Centre (NSTC) to be creative and innovative as they enter the workforce. The appeal came during a graduation ceremony held at the NSTC premises, where the minister emphasized the importance of understanding customers’ needs as a key factor for success in business.
Minister Mokhosi highlighted that supporting the private sector is essential for economic growth in Lesotho. He noted that many nationals have placed their trust in local entrepreneurs, and skills development is critical for sustaining this trust. “With initiatives like Sebabatso and the Bacha Entrepreneurship Project, a partnership between Standard Bank Lesotho and Basotho Enterprises Development Corporation, aimed at addressing youth unemployment, you can access financial support to start your own businesses,” he stated.
He commended NSTC’s management for effectively running the centre despite limited resources. However, he noted that the workshops are operating with outdated machinery, much of it donated decades ago, and stressed that government intervention is needed to upgrade the equipment. “We cannot still be operating with equipment that was handed as a gift over decades ago,” Mokhosi said, urging authorities to modernize the centre to meet current industry standards.
The graduation ceremony underlined the importance of equipping young Basotho with practical skills, entrepreneurship knowledge, and access to financial resources, positioning them to contribute meaningfully to Lesotho’s economic development.
