Lesotho Champions Youth Health and Culture at Quality Physical Education Forum

The Quality Physical Education Forum concluded today at Thaba-Bosiu Cultural Village, bringing together educationists, policymakers, sport administrators, and regional stakeholders. The event focused on strategies to enhance physical education and promote youth health and well-being in Lesotho and the wider region.

Hon. Motlatsi Maqelepo, Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture, officially closed the forum. He expressed gratitude to all participants and partners, emphasizing the need to integrate quality physical education into national development plans.

Keynote speaker Mr. Stanley Mutoya, Chief Executive Officer of the African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5, commended the Government of Lesotho for its commitment and hospitality in facilitating meaningful dialogue on physical education.

Discussions highlighted regional collaboration, improving access to quality physical education, and the role of sport in achieving broader social and educational outcomes. The Ministry of Education and Training, represented by Principal Secretary Mr. Ratšiu Majara, played a key role in supporting the event, with contributions from international and regional partners.

Following the closing session, delegates visited the crafts exhibition at Thaba-Bosiu Cultural Village. Hon. Maqelepo and other dignitaries supported local artisans by purchasing handmade items, promoting Lesotho’s cultural heritage and creative talent.

Tokens of appreciation were presented to Hon. Maqelepo and Mr. Majara in recognition of their leadership and dedication to advancing physical education, youth development, and cultural promotion.

The forum demonstrated Lesotho’s commitment to inclusive and quality physical education, fostering youth development, and preserving cultural heritage at both national and regional levels.
