Youth Representatives Undergo Governance Training in Qacha’s Nek

Tuesday marked the second day of a four-day cascade training on good governance for 26 youth representatives at FTC Hall in Qacha’s Nek. The training runs from Monday to Thursday and forms a key part of the Youth Power Hub (YPH) project.

The YPH project is implemented by Development for Peace Education (DPE), Skillshare, and Democracy Works Foundation. It receives support from the European Union, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

While the initiative spans all ten districts of Lesotho, DPE is focusing its efforts on Mafeteng, Mohale’s Hoek, Quthing, and Qacha’s Nek.

Speaking to the Agency, DPE Peace Education Researcher Melida Bohloko explained that the YPH initiative started following UNICEF’s call for youth associations to apply for incubation. In Qacha’s Nek, only two associations qualified: Internet Society Lesotho and Youth Connect Lesotho. Other youth groups were invited to join the training to benefit from the capacity-building process.

The training covers principles of good governance, leadership skills, and community engagement. It aims to equip youth representatives with the knowledge and tools to drive positive change in their communities.

By strengthening youth leadership across multiple districts, the YPH project seeks to enhance civic participation and create a generation of informed, responsible leaders capable of influencing local development initiatives.
