Prime Minister Sam Matekane Hails Sebabatso Initiative as Catalyst for Youth Entrepreneurship

Prime Minister Sam Matekane described the Sebabatso initiative as a beacon of hope, innovation, entrepreneurship, and empowerment for young Basotho.

The platform aims to connect youth entrepreneurs and innovators with potential investment opportunities to accelerate business growth.

Speaking at the official opening of the 2025 Sebabatso Conference in Maseru on Monday, Matekane highlighted the initiative’s progress since its launch three years ago. The conference runs until Friday.

“Through this initiative I have seen hope, transformation, and belief in the boundless potential of our youth,” Matekane said.

He added that Sebabatso has evolved from a concept into a national platform that nurtures talent, promotes entrepreneurship, and links young innovators to continental networks.

The initiative continues to support youth-led businesses by providing mentorship, investment access, and exposure to broader markets, positioning Lesotho’s youth at the forefront of innovation and economic development.
