New Electricity Developments Planned for Khokhoba, Mapeleng

New infrastructure developments are set to begin in Khokhoba, Mapeleng, following a recent visit by the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Mr. Tankiso Phapano. The visit marks a turning point for one of the least developed areas in the Mosalemane Constituency, which has long lacked access roads and electricity infrastructure.
Until recently, five villages in Khokhoba remained without electricity, leaving residents without basic services that rely on power. Member of Parliament for Mosalemane No.19 Constituency, Mr. Thuso Setloboko, raised the issue with the Ministry of Energy, prompting the high-level visit.
In response to his request, officials from the Ministry and the Lesotho Electricity Company (LEC) visited the area to assess the situation. Their inspection led to approval for contractors to begin installation work to connect the villages to the national grid.
“Following my visit to the ministry, they promised to assist with electricity installation and they kept their promise,” Setloboko confirmed.
The planned installation will not only bring electricity to the five villages but is also expected to stimulate local development. Access to electricity will improve living conditions, enable small businesses to operate more efficiently, and enhance access to services such as education and healthcare.
The developments in Khokhoba signal the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure in underserved rural areas, ensuring that more communities benefit from national electrification programs.
