Central Bank of Lesotho Wins 2025 Corporate Ethical Procurement and Supply Award

The Central Bank of Lesotho (CBL) has been awarded the 2025 Corporate Ethical Procurement and Supply Award by the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), becoming the first institution in the Kingdom to receive this global honor. The recognition highlights integrity, transparency, and accountability in procurement practices, setting CBL apart in a landscape where procurement in Africa is often linked to corruption scandals and inefficiencies.

In its official statement, CBL described the award as proof of its consistent efforts to uphold trust and ethical standards in all procurement processes. The Bank emphasized that the recognition reflects its dedication to excellence and to being a trusted institution for stakeholders across Lesotho and beyond.

CIPS, a leading international body for procurement professionals, launched the Corporate Ethical Procurement and Supply Award to spotlight organizations that set high standards in responsible sourcing and ethical supply chain management. By receiving this recognition, CBL joins a select group of institutions worldwide acknowledged for strong governance and responsible procurement.

Experts consider the award a milestone for Lesotho’s financial sector. It sets a benchmark for other institutions in the country to adopt transparent procurement systems, align with international best practices, and strengthen ethical standards in supply chain management.

This achievement positions the Central Bank of Lesotho as a leader in governance and ethics. It demonstrates that procurement, when managed responsibly, can drive sustainable development and public trust rather than serve as a source of controversy.
