Mamello Special Needs Support Centre Introduces Grade Seven to Support Learners with Disabilities

Mamello Special Needs Support Centre has expanded its academic offerings to include grade seven for the 2026 academic year and beyond, aiming to better accommodate learners with special needs. This development was confirmed by the Founder and Principal, Ms. Kefuoe Nkuoatsana, who explained that some learners face significant challenges reaching this stage of education.

Ms. Nkuoatsana noted that learners with disabilities often struggle with basic tasks such as writing or require special interpretation to complete assignments. These challenges can affect academic performance, making it difficult for them to reach their full potential. She emphasized that many of these children are competent future leaders who need dedicated attention and care. The inclusion of grade seven is intended to provide a supportive environment where these learners can thrive.

Classes for grade seven have already begun this week, with six learners currently enrolled. These learners previously scored below basic levels in grade seven, and the centre plans to assist at least 20 learners through tailored academic support. Ms. Nkuoatsana encouraged parents to allow their children to grow in an environment that supports their wellbeing, rather than keeping them isolated at home.

The expansion follows the centre’s recognition for excellence from several organizations, including the Pitching Den for Bacha Entrepreneurship Project Beneficiaries organized by Standard Lesotho Bank. Mamello Special Needs Support Centre won M40 000, highlighting its commitment to innovation and quality education for learners with special needs.

Established a few years ago, the centre employs 23 staff members and provides academic and multidisciplinary support to children with special needs. The addition of grade seven reflects its dedication to creating inclusive learning environments and improving educational outcomes for all learners.
