Dairy Farmers Participate in Four-Day LNDB Training to Boost Farming Skills

Dairy farmers across Lesotho are taking part in a four-day training organized by the Lesotho National Dairy Board (LNDB) to strengthen their farming skills. The programme aims to equip farmers with practical knowledge and techniques to improve dairy production, animal health, and farm management.

The training covers a range of topics, including modern feeding practices, disease prevention, milking hygiene, and pasture management. Farmers are also taught financial management and record-keeping skills to enhance the profitability and sustainability of their operations.

LNDB officials highlighted that the initiative is part of broader efforts to increase local milk production, improve product quality, and support smallholder farmers in meeting national and regional market standards. Participants gain hands-on experience through demonstrations and practical exercises, allowing them to apply new techniques directly on their farms.

The programme also encourages knowledge sharing among farmers, fostering a collaborative environment where challenges can be addressed collectively. LNDB emphasized that capacity-building initiatives like this are essential for the growth of Lesotho’s dairy sector and for ensuring food security.

By the end of the four days, farmers are expected to have enhanced skills in herd management, milk production efficiency, and sustainable farming practices. The LNDB plans to continue similar training sessions across the country to strengthen the dairy industry and support local livelihoods.
