Hololo Development Foundation Hosts Winter Challenge 2025 in Honour of Ntate “Teke Disco Mpotjoana”

On Sunday, 10 August 2025, the Hololo Development Foundation successfully hosted the Winter Challenge 2025 regional games under the Disco Cup. The event was held in honour of celebrated sports hero Ntate “Teke Disco Mpotjoana” and brought together teams and supporters from across the region.

Since the start of the tournament, more than seventy teams have participated, competing in men’s and women’s football and netball. This year’s final produced strong competition and remarkable performances.

Seboche Hospital emerged as the winners in men’s football. Young Killers claimed the top spot in women’s football, while Manana secured victory in netball. Each winning team received five thousand Maloti (M5 000). The total prize money awarded to the top teams amounted to ten thousand Maloti (M10 000).

The tournament also provided support to a wider group of participants. Twenty-four teams received jerseys and balls. The total value of the prize pool and team support reached forty thousand Maloti (M40 000), and the overall amount raised during this round exceeded eighty thousand Maloti (M80 000). Winners were also awarded medals and trophies to mark their achievement.

The Hololo Development Foundation extended its gratitude to the donors, sponsors of participating teams, the Hololo community, and especially the Langakeng community for making the event a success.

The Winter Challenge continues to grow each year, strengthening community spirit, promoting sports participation, and honouring the legacy of Ntate “Teke Disco Mpotjoana.” Under the guiding theme “One Seed, Everyday, More Reward,” the initiative demonstrates the lasting impact of investing in sports and youth development.
