District Youth Innovation Media Drive Sparks Creativity in Leribe Youth

The District Youth Innovation Media Drive (DYIMD) recently took place in Leribe, Hlotse, to motivate young people to invent, innovate, and engage with technology. The initiative encourages youth to use the UniPod facility, participate in STEAM activities, and join the Youth Entrepreneurship competition.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Information, Communication, Science, Technology and Innovation, with support from UNDP, American Corner, Registrar General’s Office, and the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development. The DYIMD roadshow aims to ignite creativity and innovation among Lesotho’s youth.
By promoting innovation, the program addresses the high unemployment rate among young people. It also recognizes and celebrates young innovators and entrepreneurs who contribute positively to Lesotho’s development.
This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 9, which focuses on industry, innovation, and infrastructure. DYIMD seeks to build a stronger, more innovative future by empowering youth to lead change in their communities.
