Minister Nthati Moorosi Calls for Urgent Investment in Young Leaders at Children’s Parliament

Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ms. Nthati Moorosi, has called for a national commitment to nurturing and empowering young leaders as a key pillar of sustainable development. Her remarks, delivered during the recent Children’s Parliament session, underscored the importance of early civic engagement and the inclusion of youth voices in decision-making processes.
Minister Moorosi highlighted that preparing young people for leadership is not just a moral responsibility, but a strategic investment in the country’s future. “We must create platforms where children and youth can participate meaningfully in matters that concern them, even the smallest decisions. This will help us understand what truly works best for them,” she stated.
She emphasized that involving youth from an early age builds a generation of informed, engaged, and foresighted citizens who can contribute to solving national challenges with innovative and practical ideas.
The Minister also drew attention to the importance of inclusion in public governance, stressing that young people should have a say in national planning processes such as budgeting and policy formulation. Their input, she said, is vital in ensuring that national strategies are relevant and responsive to their real needs.
Her call to action aligns with a growing movement to prioritize child and youth participation in governance, positioning young people not just as future leaders, but as active contributors to shaping a stronger, more inclusive society today.
