Lesotho Football Association President Advocate Salemane Phafane Visits National Academy in Maputsoe

The President of the Lesotho Football Association (LeFA), Advocate Salemane Phafane (KC), recently visited the National Academy in Maputsoe to assess the progress of the young players enrolled in the academy. This visit comes as the 33 talented kids are set to reunite with their families during the Easter Holidays, marking an emotional milestone for both the players and their families.
Mikia Kalati, LeFA’s Communication and Media Manager, shared that these young athletes were scouted during the nationwide rollout of the Talent Development Scheme in 2023. Since January, they have been training at the Academy in Maputsoe, where they simultaneously pursue both their football development and academic studies.
During his visit, Advocate Phafane expressed his satisfaction with the progress made by the young players. The academy aims not only to develop the players’ football skills but also to ensure they are equipped with a well-rounded education. This dual focus reflects LeFA’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of football talent while promoting academic growth.
The initiative, which began with the Talent Development Scheme, seeks to identify and nurture promising football players across the country. With the 33 kids now reaching this significant milestone in their development, the Academy’s work continues to be a pivotal part of Lesotho’s football future.
