During his address to the participants, His Majesty King Letsie III highlighted the importance of the walk in preserving the history and cultural heritage of the Kingdom. He spoke about the significance of Moshoeshoe I, the founder of Lesotho, whose vision and leadership continue to inspire the nation today. The walk, he emphasized, is a way of paying tribute to the late king’s legacy and uniting people from different backgrounds and cultures.

King Letsie III acknowledged the international participation, noting that the annual walk has become an important event that brings together people from all corners of the world. He expressed his gratitude for the support and enthusiasm shown by visitors, stressing that such events foster cross-cultural exchanges and strengthen the bonds between Lesotho and other nations.

The walk, which follows the historical route taken by Moshoeshoe I during his time, provides an opportunity for participants to experience the beauty of the country’s landscapes while reflecting on its history. The journey is not only a physical challenge but also a spiritual and cultural pilgrimage that brings together Basotho and visitors alike in a shared celebration of heritage.

As the walk progresses over the next few days, participants will make their way through the scenic terrains of Leribe, Butha-Buthe, and other regions, ultimately reaching the iconic Thaba Bosiu, where Moshoeshoe I established his stronghold. The event serves as both a reminder of the resilience of the Basotho people and a symbol of unity, as individuals from different walks of life join in the celebration of their shared history.
