King Letsie III Calls for Stronger SADC Cooperation Amid Climate Change, Hunger, and Poverty

King Letsie III has emphasized the need for deeper cooperation among Southern African Development Community (SADC) member states to address the pressing challenges of climate change, hunger, and poverty.

Speaking at the Royal Palace on Wednesday while accepting letters of credence from the High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania to Lesotho, Mr. James Bwana, the King highlighted the importance of regional unity in tackling shared issues.

“The ongoing climate change, hunger, and poverty call for strengthening further bonds of cooperation among SADC member states,” King Letsie III stated.

He further noted that SADC’s commitment to regional solidarity was evident in the deployment of troops to Mozambique to combat acts of terrorism. He commended the collective effort, describing it as a demonstration of true brotherhood in protecting the people of Mozambique.

The King’s remarks reinforce the significance of collaboration among African nations in addressing socio-economic and security challenges, ensuring peace and stability across the region.
