Public Procession Launches IEC Electors Re-Registration in Lower Moyeni
In a vibrant show of civic engagement, various public groups in the district participated in a procession at Lower Moyeni on Friday to officially launch the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) electors re-registration campaign. The event, meticulously organized by the IEC district office, aimed to raise awareness among residents and non-residents working in Quthing about the importance of registering with the commission.
The procession began at Lower Moyeni bus stop, weaving its way to the busy commercial area. Participants marched with placards bearing encouraging messages, all aimed at reinforcing the importance of voter re-registration. The event highlighted the commitment of the district to ensure that all eligible citizens are part of the electoral process, fostering a culture of participation and civic responsibility.
Addressing the attendees, District Administrator Mr. Bonang Tlali emphasized the significance of adhering to the IEC’s regulations. “It is essential for all eligible members of our community to register and participate in our country’s democratic process. Doing so not only aligns with the Laws of the IEC but also reflects the responsibilities of being a law-abiding citizen,” Mr. Tlali stated.
The re-registration campaign is part of the IEC’s broader mission to maintain updated electoral rolls and ensure transparent and inclusive elections. The event underscored the need for continuous public engagement, particularly targeting diverse groups, including workers who might not be residents of the area but are essential to the re-registration drive.
Through this procession and other community-driven initiatives, the IEC aims to strengthen democratic participation and ensure that all eligible voters are prepared for future electoral events.
