Lekhetho Rakuoane
Honourable Lekhetho Rakuoane is the Minister of Tourism, Environment and Culture and also a Member of Parliament. He is the leader of the Popular Front for Democracy (PFD) political party. He is the former Minister of Home Affairs. He also served as Dputy Speaker of the National Assembly in the Parliament of Lesotho from 2012 to 2015.
Advocate Rakuoane holds Bachelor of Laws (LLB) which he attained in 1985 from the National University of Lesotho. He graduated from the same university with Bachelor of Arts in Law (BA Law) in 1982. He completed his high school education in 1978 at Holy Names High School.
He is the leader of Popular Front for Democracy (P.F.D.), one of the political parties that have joined the Fourth Coalition Government in Lesotho. In 2020, he made history by proposing and sponsoring a successful Private Member Constitutional Amendment Act to fix the term of Parliament by stopping a Prime Minister from advising the King to dissolve Parliament and call for fresh elections whenever he loses a no confidence vote.
