China Xinxing Delegation Strengthens Cooperation Talks with Lesotho Embassy in Beijing

A high-level delegation from China Xinxing Import & Export Co., Ltd. has paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Kingdom of Lesotho in Beijing to explore new areas of cooperation and deepen bilateral engagement. The visit reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen practical partnerships between Lesotho and international state-owned enterprises with expertise in logistics, defence support systems and infrastructure solutions. Discussions focused on development priorities that align with Lesotho’s geographic and economic needs, particularly in remote and mountainous regions. The meeting also highlighted the importance of technology transfer, industrial collaboration and job creation. It marked another step in strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two sides.
China Xinxing Import & Export Co., Ltd., established in 1984, is a state-owned enterprise with a long history of providing specialized equipment and logistics services. The company focuses on military and police logistics equipment, protective gear, vehicles, medical supplies and integrated logistics solutions. Its expertise covers both operational support and large-scale supply chain management for government and security institutions. During the visit, the delegation presented its capacity to expand operations across Southern Africa, including the possibility of establishing assembly facilities within the region. These facilities are expected to support local employment and skills development while improving access to essential equipment.
The discussions built on a previous mission conducted by the company in June 2025, when it visited Lesotho and engaged directly with senior government leadership. During that mission, the delegation met with the Right Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Ntsokoane Samuel Matekane as well as representatives from key ministries including Defence, Foreign Affairs and Agriculture. The team also conducted site visits to the Military Hospital in Makonyane and several textile factories to better understand local conditions and operational needs. These visits helped the company identify areas where its products and services could support national priorities. The follow-up meeting in Beijing reflected continuity in dialogue and growing interest in long-term cooperation.
A central focus of the recent discussions was Lesotho’s unique geographical landscape and the practical challenges it presents for transport, emergency response and infrastructure development. Ambassador Mapaballo Lydia highlighted the country’s mountainous terrain and the need for specialized military vehicles, ambulances and emergency bridge systems. These tools are seen as essential for improving access to remote communities and strengthening disaster response capabilities. The delegation acknowledged these needs and discussed how tailored logistics solutions could be developed to meet such conditions. This exchange emphasized the importance of designing equipment and systems that are adapted to local environments rather than relying on standard models.
Another key area of discussion was the potential for establishing assembly and production facilities in Southern Africa. Such investments could contribute to local industrial growth while reducing dependency on imported finished goods. The proposed facilities would also create employment opportunities and support technical skills transfer for local workers. This aligns with broader development goals focused on industrialization, job creation and regional value chain development. Both sides recognized that such initiatives require careful planning, regulatory alignment and sustained cooperation between public and private sectors.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue exploring practical and mutually beneficial partnerships that support Lesotho’s development priorities. The Embassy of the Kingdom of Lesotho in Beijing reaffirmed its openness to collaboration that delivers tangible benefits for national growth and infrastructure improvement. China Xinxing Import & Export Co., Ltd. expressed its interest in maintaining active engagement and further refining its proposals based on Lesotho’s needs. The discussions demonstrated a clear alignment between development goals and technical capabilities. This engagement represents a step forward in strengthening cooperation that can support economic development, improved services and long-term strategic partnerships between the two sides.
