Lesotho’s MICSTI Engages in AU STC-CICT Technical Experts Meeting

On 14 November 2025, the Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI) participated in the African Union STC-CICT Technical Experts Meeting, held virtually. The meeting brought together experts from AU Member States, international partners, and representatives from specialised technical agencies to prepare for the upcoming WSIS+20 Review High-Level Meeting at the United Nations General Assembly.
The session was chaired by MICSTI’s Principal Secretary, Mr Kanono Ramashamole. In his address, he welcomed distinguished experts and delegates from AU Member States, colleagues from the African Union Commission, and officials from international organisations, including the African Telecommunications Union and other partners involved in WSIS and SDG initiatives.
Mr Ramashamole highlighted the importance of collaboration among African states to advance digital transformation, enhance connectivity, and promote science, technology, and innovation across the continent. He emphasized the role of technical experts in shaping policies and strategies that support sustainable development goals and the effective implementation of WSIS action lines.
The Principal Secretary also underscored the significance of leveraging regional partnerships and international cooperation to strengthen digital infrastructure and ICT governance in Africa. He called on member states to actively contribute to discussions, share best practices, and ensure that Africa’s collective voice is represented in global ICT policy forums.
The AU STC-CICT Technical Experts Meeting served as a platform to align member states on priorities, review progress, and prepare coordinated positions for the WSIS+20 High-Level Review. Lesotho’s active participation reflects the country’s commitment to advancing ICT development, supporting innovation, and contributing to Africa’s digital agenda.
Through engagements like this, MICSTI reinforces its role in driving national and regional initiatives that promote inclusive access to information, strengthen ICT capacities, and ensure that Lesotho remains an active contributor to continental and global digital development efforts.
