Inclusive Growth Facility Expected To Create 25 000 Jobs By 2028

At least 25 000 jobs are expected to be created by 2028 through the Inclusive Growth Facility. The Prime Minister, Mr Ntsokoane Matekane, launched the facility last week Friday. The initiative aims to support small, medium and micro enterprises and boost national economic activity.
The Minister of Finance and Development Planning explained the terms of access during a press conference held in Maseru on Wednesday. Dr Retselisitsoe Matlanyane said the scheme is open to both new and existing enterprises. She noted that funding covers start up financing, expansion and exporting activities.
She said qualifying enterprises are expected to go through incubation processes with financial institutions such as CAFI, BEDCO and LNDC. These institutions will assist with professional business proposals and readiness support. She added that existing businesses can approach banks directly without incubation if they already meet the required standards.
The Minister of Trade, Industry and Business Development, Mr Mokhethi Shelile, encouraged enterprises to apply. He said the loan turnaround time is at least 7 days. He added that each enterprise is expected to access at least M2 million. This funding can be used to buy machinery, start operations or expand production.
The Inclusive Growth Facility is funded by the Government of Lesotho with M400 million. The government aims to increase productivity, support enterprise growth and create jobs across key sectors of the economy through this intervention.
