
Vodacom Lesotho Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive growth and economic empowerment by sponsoring the auction day for people with disabilities held in Maseru on Wednesday. The event was organized in partnership with the International Association of Lesotho and the Lesotho National Federation of Organisations of the Disabled (LNFOD).
The auction provided a platform for small businesses run by people with disabilities to showcase and promote their products and services. The initiative aims to foster trade, resilience, and creativity within disabled communities, emphasizing that contribution to the economy goes hand in hand with integrity and lawful enterprise.
Speaking at the event, Representative of International Unity in Lesotho, Honorable Amanda Khozi Mukwashi, highlighted the importance of changing perceptions and actions toward inclusion. She stated that integrating people with disabilities into economic activities is not charity, but a fundamental right and essential for empowerment in the economy.
Athe Keneuoe Semphi, Director of People with Disabilities Affairs at Vodacom Lesotho Foundation, emphasized the foundation’s dedication to supporting people with disabilities. He noted that Vodacom’s mission includes ensuring that no black person is left behind, reflecting the organization’s broader commitment to building a brighter, inclusive future.
The auction day underscored the potential of disabled entrepreneurs to contribute meaningfully to Lesotho’s economy while promoting creativity, innovation, and sustainable livelihoods. By supporting such initiatives, Vodacom Lesotho Foundation continues to champion inclusive growth and equitable access to economic opportunities for all communities.
