Mighty Waters Brings Clean Drinking Water to Majaheng Village

Representatives from Mighty Waters, a project under AdventHealth, visited Majaheng on Thursday to train villagers on using filter buckets for safe drinking water. The initiative aims to reduce waterborne diseases and improve community health.

Mighty Waters was founded by two men who, during travels across the globe, observed the severe impact of unsafe water on children. Motivated to provide practical solutions, they designed a simple filtration system suitable for households without access to clean water.

Amanda Mahoney, from AdventHealth’s Global Missions Department, explained the system to villagers. She said it is user-friendly and effective, using two buckets and a filter with straightforward daily maintenance. “If families are able to follow instructions, the results will be fruitful,” Mahoney said.

Majaheng is the first village the team revisited, following recommendations from Maluti Adventist Hospital. During the visit, the team distributed 100 filter buckets to households and provided training on proper use and upkeep.

In addition to household training, the team conducted hygiene education sessions at Majaheng Primary School. Filter buckets were also donated to the school to ensure children have access to clean drinking water. The initiative targets waterborne illnesses that often cause absenteeism, aiming to support better health and consistent school attendance.

The Mighty Waters program combines practical tools, education, and community engagement to create sustainable solutions for clean water access. Villagers now have the knowledge and resources to reduce waterborne illnesses and improve overall wellbeing.
