ReNOKA Shares Natural Resource Management Tips at Farmers Pitso Awards

On Saturday, the ReNOKA project engaged with farmers at the #FarmersPitsoAwards ceremony, sharing practical guidance on sustainable natural resource management. The initiative focused on educating farmers about practices that protect the environment while supporting both human and animal health.
ReNOKA emphasized the importance of preserving wetlands. Farmers were advised against grazing animals in these areas, explaining that healthy wetlands improve water quality and ensure a consistent water supply for agriculture and domestic use. Maintaining wetland integrity also supports biodiversity and creates a balanced ecosystem, benefiting crops, livestock, and local communities.
The project highlighted other practices aimed at sustainable land use, soil conservation, and efficient water management. Farmers were encouraged to integrate these strategies into their daily routines to enhance productivity while safeguarding natural resources.
By providing these practical tips, ReNOKA seeks to empower farmers to make informed decisions that promote environmental sustainability. The engagement underlines the connection between proper natural resource management and long-term health outcomes for both people and animals.
The ReNOKA project continues to work closely with farming communities across Lesotho, promoting awareness and practical solutions that contribute to resilient agriculture, improved livelihoods, and sustainable use of the country’s natural resources.
