The Basotho Enterprises Development Corporation (BEDCO), in partnership with Revenue Services Lesotho (RSL) and Standard Lesotho Bank, will officially launch the Bacha Entrepreneurship Project (BEP) training this week in Maseru. The initiative aims to equip unemployed Basotho youth with the skills, knowledge, and funding needed to become successful entrepreneurs.
BEP targets youth aged 21 to 35 who are currently unemployed. The programme provides practical skills, entrepreneurship training, and seed funding to help participants start their own businesses. By doing so, the project seeks to turn young job seekers into job creators, contributing to Lesotho’s economic growth and reducing unemployment.
A key focus of the Bacha Entrepreneurship Project is fostering innovation. Participants will learn how to identify business opportunities, develop sustainable business models, and manage their enterprises effectively. The programme emphasizes both practical training and financial literacy to ensure that the skills gained translate into real-world business success.
From September 8 to 15, the top 50 applicants selected for the programme will undergo an intensive skills training programme. This training will cover essential areas such as business planning, marketing, financial management, and customer service. Each participant will also have access to mentorship and guidance from experienced business professionals.
BEDCO, RSL, and Standard Lesotho Bank aim to create a supportive ecosystem for young entrepreneurs. By combining training with seed funding and ongoing mentorship, the Bacha Entrepreneurship Project provides a clear pathway for youth to launch sustainable businesses that can generate employment for themselves and others.
The launch of BEP reflects a growing commitment in Lesotho to empower youth, promote entrepreneurship, and stimulate economic growth. For the selected participants, the programme offers a unique opportunity to turn innovative ideas into thriving businesses that will benefit both their communities and the national economy.
