Ha Mosuoe Councillor Hlompho Monamatha Reflects on Community Upliftment Journey

Councillor Hlompho Monamatha of Ha Mosuoe has described his journey in office as a fulfilling success, marked by tangible grassroots achievements and personal sacrifices made for the well-being of his community. In a heartfelt statement, Monamatha shared that his role has gone beyond policy to directly addressing the daily needs of residents—often from his own pocket.

In his efforts to curb youth-related crime, Monamatha said he launched several initiatives that focus on empowering young people through agriculture. “I have gathered youth and formed groups aimed at defeating hunger,” he said. “I personally bought vegetable seeds to ensure that every household, especially for the elderly, could benefit from homegrown produce.” These gardens are not only feeding families but are also providing purpose and unity among the youth.

Beyond crime prevention and food security, Monamatha has also made a mark in the education sector. He personally purchased snacks for Moeti and Souru Primary Schools, with proceeds from the sales going toward fundraising efforts. These funds help support school trips and reduce financial strain on parents, making sure children have access to enriching educational experiences outside the classroom.

In another community-focused gesture, the councillor facilitated the connection of electricity to the Church of Moeti, ensuring that congregants could worship in a safer and more comfortable environment. Additionally, he constructed a toilet and a cowshed at the Chief’s office—developments that speak to the dignity and functionality of traditional leadership spaces.

Monamatha expressed deep gratitude to the people of Ha Mosuoe for their cooperation and belief in his leadership. “Being a councillor has taught me the value of listening and acting with compassion,” he noted. “This is not about politics, but about people.”

His story stands as an inspiring example of hands-on leadership rooted in service, compassion, and a deep commitment to community development.
