The 50th Session of AU Permanent Representatives’ Committee Kicks Off in the Capital Addis Ababa

The 50th Session of the Permanent Representatives’ Committee (PRC) of the African Union officially opened this week in Addis Ababa, marking a key milestone in the continent’s ongoing efforts to advance unity, peace, and development. The session convenes ambassadors and permanent representatives from all 55 AU Member States to review key agenda items ahead of the Executive Council in July 2025.
Her Excellency Ambassador Ntsiuoa SEKETE, Lesotho’s Permanent Representative to the African Union, is in attendance, firmly representing the interests of the Kingdom of Lesotho. Amid ongoing global economic shifts and geopolitical instability, Lesotho’s delegation is prioritizing issues such as regional integration, intra-Africa trade, and food security among others.
Ambassador Sekete emphasized the importance of a unified African voice and reiterated Lesotho’s commitment to the AU’s Agenda 2063.
“This session comes at a time when solidarity and strategic cooperation among African states are more vital than ever,” she said. “Lesotho remains dedicated to shaping decisions that protect our national interests while contributing meaningfully to Africa’s collective future.”
The PRC will deliberate on a wide range of issues, including institutional reform, peace and security, and the implementation of key development frameworks. Recommendations from this session will directly inform the policy directions of the AU Executive Council and the Assembly of Heads of State and Government.
As the AU celebrates the milestone of its 50th PRC session, Lesotho’s active engagement underlines its enduring commitment to a prosperous, peaceful, and integrated Africa.
